People Look Around:  trip to New Orleans

People Look Around nbsptrip to New Orleans

Typical post-Katrina scene in the 9th Ward, New Orleans.

I just came back from New Orleans, where I was shooting a video for the post-Hurricane Katrina song "People Look Around."  We've discovered a great organization helping those who lost their homes in the hurricane.  It's EmergencyCommunities.  Check it out if you'd like to see what can be done to help.  The French Quarter looked great, but the 9th Ward is like a ghost town.  Click here for photos:  link

Long Night Moon will be released on Compass Records on August 29th!!! Long Night Moon is produced by Lorne Entress and features harmony vocals by Mark Erelli, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kris Delmhorst and Erin McKeown. You can pre-order here by clicking on "music," or order at amazon.com.  Or you can support your local independent music store by picking it up there.  Barnes and Noble is helping to promote the CD so that's a good stop too.  You can  hear "Find You Now" and "People Look Around" and at www.myspace.com/catiecurtis. You may be hearing it already on your public and community radio stations (it never hurts to call and request it). WERS in Boston has chosen LNM as its August album of the month, and other stations (like KBCO, KPIG, WFUV and WXPN) are playing various tracks in these weeks leading to the release of the CD.

The CD is now available at shows!  August tour stops include New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and the Catskills (NY). Kevin Barry (guitarist in Mary Chapin Carpenters band) will accompany on New Hampshire dates. Mark Erelli joins me on August 18th and 19th. Edie Carey opens the show in Londonderry NH 8/26.  Guitarist Shelley Jennings will appear with me at the shows in Provincetown over Labor Day weekend. The tour picks up steam in October and will continue well into 2007. Most of the tour will be duo or solo shows except for one full-band show at the Somerville Theater on October 20th, featuring many of the players on the recording. It may be worth a plane ticket to come celebrate with us. You know, New England is beautiful that time of year.

See you out there!
